Karen completed her Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Wichita State University, in Wichita, Kansas. Karen is now a Resident in Counseling at the Salem office of Associates in Brief Therapy, after completing her Practicum and Internship under David Mortellaro’s supervision.

After suffering with her own Depression, Anxiety, Sexual Addiction and Family Dysfunction for many years, Karen made it her goal to become educated and overcome her disorders, in order to learn to function to her best abilities, in spite of her barriers. Karen participated in her own therapy for many years, from working through daily stressors and participating in therapeutic studies for Depression which focused on Motivational Interviewing, to digging deeper into her Family Systems to discover how best to function mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Karen believes in open communication about sex, with great respect to age and understanding, in order to decrease the stigma surrounding our sexuality and desires. Karen is passionate about working to improve our sexual education in schools and at home. Karen is passionate about helping other to work through the many issues she has experienced in her own life, using therapeutic approaches she has studied and worked with for years. Karen believes everyone matters, no matter your lifestyle or special needs, and strives to be nonjudgmental and open-minded in all matters, providing a safe space for each individual to learn how to function to be their best self.
