Supporting Our Clients Going Back to School
As summer break comes to an end, ABT Counseling is committed to supporting children, teenagers, and parents on their mental health journey. The transition back to school can cause new challenges to arise for families. If your children are facing new schedules, new environments, and increased pressure, consider looking into mental health services!
Effects of Back to School on Mental Health
In one of their 2023 blog posts, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reports that there is a significant connection between students’ performance in school and their mental health. With this in mind, SAMHSA encourages that families incorporate receiving mental health services for their children and teens in preparation for this back to school transition. Additionally, with kids going back to school, parents and families may experience increased stress. ABT Counseling is proud to work with students and their families as they head into a new school year!
Back to School at ABT Counseling
ABT Counseling has a wide variety of therapists and providers across our several locations who work with children and teens. These providers incorporate humor and current trends with theory and skills to establish strong rapport with young clients and guide them as they work towards their collaboratively set goals. In addition, ABT has providers trained in screening and testing for diagnoses such as ASD and ADHD to identify beneficial treatment plans or accommodations and helps children and teens improve in their academic experience.
For students seeking counseling services, ABT works to help children and teens:
- regulate their emotions through receiving support and coping skills,
- reduce their suicidal thoughts,
- improve their social skills,
- and improve their overall functioning in the classroom and at home.
