Got the Back to School Blues? ABT Counseling Can Help.
The Back to School Transition
The back to school transition can be a challenging season for many families. Students are expected to meet increased pressures and structure as compared to the summer season. Children and teenagers alike are trading exploring the outdoors for sitting at a desk, community activities for homework, and swim trunks for school uniforms.
At ABT Counseling, we know that school is a necessity, yet often brings unique challenges that can affect a child’s or family’s mental health. That’s why we help our clients learn to regulate their emotions, develop healthy routines, reduce suicidal thoughts, and improve functioning in the classroom or at home.
ABT Counseling loves to support children, teenagers, and families as they transition back to school. We offer several services to best meet that need.
ABT Counseling Therapy
We have a variety of therapists across our five locations who integrate humor and Gen Z trends with theory and skills to meet our youth where they are and develop growth-oriented goals. Our counselors can help you set your child up for success for the new school year.

ABT Counseling Testing Center
We know that the school environment often highlights a child’s difficulties focusing or participating in structured assignments. ABT Counseling provides screening and testing for diagnoses such as ADHD to better identify necessary treatment approaches or accommodations and help children and teens function successfully.
If you or your child qualify for a diagnosis, we make recommendations and referrals to best meet your needs. Referrals to other treatment options include medication management and counseling to improve executive functioning skills.

ABT Counseling Groups
ABT Counseling also provides group counseling for teenage girls covering topics such as self-image, relationships, and wellness starting September 7th, 2024. Having the right support is paramount for your teenager’s mental health and connecting with other teens in the counseling environment is a great way to establish a healthy network.
